About GVMTB

Great Valley Mountain Biking Team is a coed youth program, founded in 2016, welcoming riders from the Great Valley School District in grades 6-12 (public or private) who are ready to hit the trails and join an incredible MTB family. Our mission is simple and powerful: deliver an unforgettable riding experience while championing the five core pillars of the National Interscholastic Cycling Leagueβ€”Strong Body, Strong Mind, Strong Character, Inclusivity, and Equality.

Season Overview

Our Season consists of a pre-season (May-June), focused on getting ourselves, bikes and trails back into riding shape and an in-season (July-October), which is when we begin riding consistently three times a week and building skills, confidence, and friendships that last far beyond the season. Come September, riders have the chance to roll into the starting corral and compete alongside hundreds of peers in a series of five statewide racesβ€”an electrifying experience for those who love the thrill of competition.

For riders who prefer exploration over racing, our weekend adventure rides offer a fun, challenging way to discover the incredible parks and trail systems of our region.

Whether a rider wants to race, explore, or just join a supportive community, Great Valley Mountain Biking Team is where young athletes grow and thrive.

Our Riding Groups

Honey Badgers (HB)

Honey Badgers are where the adventure begins β€” a crew that loves exploring trails, building confidence, and having a blast together. This group keeps the pace chill, takes plenty of breaks, and focuses on fun while cruising through 5–7 miles of trail. It’s the perfect place for riders who want to enjoy the ride, make friends, and discover just how awesome mountain biking can be.

Mad Dogs (MD)

Mad Dogs bring the energy. This group is great for riders who are ready to pick up the pace a bit, ride a little farther, and start pushing their skills while still keeping things fun and supportive. With rides around 6–8 miles, MD is all about momentum, teamwork, and that β€œlet’s go!” feeling every time the wheels hit the dirt.

Ghost Peppers (GP)

Ghost Peppers turn up the heat. These riders are stepping into the world of intermediate trails, taking on more speed, more distance, and more technical features β€” sometimes even dipping into black diamond territory. With rides around 7–9 miles, GP is where riders start to feel their progression kick in and discover just how much they’re capable of.

Full Speed (FS)

Full Speed riders are seasoned, confident, and hungry for challenge. This group tackles longer distances, tougher terrain, and black diamond trails with skill and determination β€” all while keeping a steady, controlled pace. With 9–12 mile rides, FS is the perfect home for riders who want big adventure, big climbs, and big fun with a tight‑knit crew.

Blue Riders (BR)

Blue Riders are our advanced squad β€” fast, fearless, and ready for anything the trail throws at them. This group charges through 12–18 mile rides, hits the most technical routes, and thrives on speed, flow, and high‑level challenge. BR is where our most experienced riders push their limits, support each other, and absolutely rip.
